Hello, My name is Jennifer Wutka! I Graduated from Grand Valley State University with a Bachelors in Science in Mathematics and Elementary Education. I obtained my Teaching Certificate in May of 2017.
My goal is to teach in an elementary classroom where I can strengthen students love for learning as well as develop my abilities to be an exceptional educator. |
In May of 2017 I traveled to Arusha, Tanzania with the mathematics education study abroad program at Grand Valley State University. I taught grade 3 English and grade 5 Mathematics at Nakido private school in Arusha. I also spent time at an Orphanage where we played and cared for 30+ children, newborn to 18 years. I was able to learn about a different culture and experience the beauty and richness of Tanzania.
In May of 2018 I got the opportunity to go back to Arusha, Tanzania as a graduate student. I interviewed and observed Grand Valley students as well as the teachers and administrators in Arusha. I visited 5 different schools, elementary, secondary, and special ed to get a wide range of information to get a well rounded idea of the way teachers prepare for the variety of students in the classroom every day. |
I teacher assisted at Ridgeview Elementary in a Transitional First Grade classroom where I learned so much about my self and my self as a teacher. This experience gave me more confirmation that I have chosen the right career path. I have been working in classrooms, day cares, and in a number of homes as a nanny since my junior year in high school. With my mother in the education system, it really broadens where I can go to get my experience. Observing and being a part of classrooms has showed me that I would be willing to expand the ideal grade level I was originally hoping to teach. I think that each classroom is a different experience and the opportunities I have had in such different classrooms have given me a great idea of what type of classroom I would like to have.
